The Fields Order is used to define the sequence in which fields are organized and processed within a dataset. Its key applications include:
Field Arrangement: Reorganizes fields into a specified order to meet workflow or system requirements.
Improved Readability: Enhances the clarity and presentation of data by arranging fields logically.
System Compatibility: Ensures data is formatted in the required order for integration with downstream systems or applications.
Consistent Output: Standardizes the order of fields in the output, facilitating easier comparison and analysis.
Custom Processing: Aligns field order with specific processing or reporting requirements.
Dynamic Data Handling: Particularly useful when working with constantly changing data sources, ensuring a consistent structure despite variations.
Fields Order is essential for maintaining consistency, improving usability, and ensuring compatibility across various stages of data handling.
Properties
To change Fields Order properties double click on the object.
Usage Example
The following data sample has 2 fields A and B
Here is how the data looks like inside the transformation editor
Here is another sample with different fields order (B-A)
Fields order properties dialogue (Note that original order is different but new order is the same)
Here is how the data looks like inside the transformation editor (Note: the fields order is the same)
Note: We recommend using Fields Order Transformation Object when the source data format is unstable, for example new fields are inserted inside file/table or source table structure is changed on regular basis by reordering fields
