How to Copy Data from Access to PostgreSQL - Step-by-Step

1. Launch Advanced ETL Processor

  • Create an ODBC (preferred) or OleDb Connection to your Access database (.mdb or .accdb)
  • Create a PostgreSQL Connection with hostname, port, database, username, and password

2. Create a New Transformation

Right-click on any transformation group and select New to start building your data flow.

3. Configure Reader

  • Double-click the reader to open Reader Properties
  • Select the Access connection
  • Choose the source table or write a custom SELECT query

4. Configure Writer

  • Double-click the writer to open Writer Properties
  • Select the PostgreSQL connection
  • Choose the target table and write mode (append, truncate, replace)

5. Map and Transform Fields

  • Map Access fields to PostgreSQL columns
  • Apply type conversions and business rules as needed

6. Run the Transformation

Click the Run button (green arrow). Monitor the job using logs and on-screen messages to confirm success or handle errors.
