Automatically create rowid from import excel to SQL Server

Hi Peter,

I tried immediately this morning and guess what: by removing the mapping for M3PRS it works. So the only column with decimals crashes, and without loading that one it works fine.

Is there any reason for this and what would be the solution, as I have to be able to load columns with decimals...

I treid another thing: when I change the excel-input sheet and make the column M3PRS from general-format to number-format, it works as well without any problems. Apparently, the tool doesn't eat the column in general format when trying to write that to SQLExpress.

But I don't want to chagne anything on the source-files from excel (maintaining manully the format there). How can I change the format from that particular coumn from String to Number in the transformation-section? I have tried to search but i can't find it how this works..

Did that already yesterday and this worked.

I noticed that yesterday, when the run of the entire package is executed and it comes with an fatal error (like the one that I started this conversation with), I have to close the entire tool and when I start it up again - without changing anything - the running of that same package works properly without changing anything. Seems to be a bug or something...

I had yesterday that I left the source excel file open, and then it throuws an I/O error. After closing the excel file I ran it again, and then it threw me errors (fatal ones in like this one):

Each time when I run the package it fails. But I noticed when I close the entire ETL-tool, start it again and run the package, it suddenly runs properly. So one way or the other, when there is an error like above, closing and re-opening the tool makes this error go away..

For the moment I am good, and as a newby I will try much more in the coming days to see if we can evaluate the tool (in the 27 days left) and decide if we want to purchase it for our upcoming project (ERP implementation, I want to use the tool for the data conversion/migration sub-project).

I had some errors but I was not able to reproduce the exact error message.
I will continue trying

2 I will ask our secretary Maria to email you a license so you can test our software as long as necessary

We use windows 10 pro here

I opened the file in excel then started AETL and was able to run the transformation/package without any I/O errors

Still not falling...

I will let you know if I find something else
