eMail Attachment with long file name

We need an actual email message so we can reproduce it in the office.

Yes I can appreciate that but I am confronted with 2 challenges. One is that these emails contain sensitive detail and can't be sent to 3rd parties.

The other is that when I forward them (internally) via Outlook the older RFC seems to kick and the content file name is unfolded into a single entry. I can get around the latter by sending the raw message as text file.

But the former one is harder, and obfuscating the data would be an onerous task.

Totally appreciate the request just have to see if I can some how desensitise the message.

I might see if I can dig up a script or mail client that sends via SMTP using the later RFC which may result in the same message format.

I think I have come up with a way for you to reproduce at your end.

• Install Thunderbird email client v78.12.0 (64-bit)
• Run a command window and run the local smtp server that comes with Python 3.x by running...
  Code:

  python -m smtpd -c DebuggingServer -n localhost:1025
• Configure Thunderbird account outbound smtp server to use the local SMTP server with a host name of "localhost" and a port number of 1025
• Create a local file with a super long filename. My example had over 90 characters. make sure the file has some content
• Create a new message with that file
• Send the message.

If all setup then you will see the content of the message headers in the CLI window running the local smtp server similar to my screenshot

I assume that you have already set everything up, can you email us the message then?
