May be you have installed 64 bit version instead of 32 bit?

i had installed the x64 bit version so i all of the following one by one, none worked
1. python 64 bit only - tested - did not work
2. removed python 64 bit version,, installed 32 bit python - did not work
3. installed both versions, 32 bit in c:\python, 64 bit n python64 - did not work

Hi Daniel

That is the one we used
www.python.org/ftp/python/2.7.3/python-2.7.3.msi

Just for your information.
32 bit applications only work with 32 bit dll's (32 bit odbc, 32 bit ole db, 32 bit python etc)
64 bit applications only work with 64 bit dll's

python27.dll is used to execute python scripts.

I have checked my own computer and have several of them, it works fine for me but when you have multiple versions it can cause problems
To avoid problems you may copy the dll into the folder where software is installed.
We will continue testing

ok, so i removed x86 python and it didnt work at first,

then i removed the v2.7.11 version of python i had downloaded
then i downloaded and installed x64 2.7.3 python and copied the python27.dll from c:\windows\system32
to the c:\program files\db software..\etl enterprise procerssor folder

now it works (using a basic setVariable) then message box to display the variable.

thanks, i guess its very version specific the intergration between etl and the python .dll

so, i installed pip and pika for python and then copied the hello world example code from the rabbitmq site

it complained about the print statement in the code,, which quickly commented out. the code works flawlessly after than .

i can use a loop to write messages to a queue hosted on the localhost.

i will keep testing , so far good !.
