Update Data in Sql Server table based on Excel column value

Hello

I have an Excel spreadsheet as a Source (reader) and I want to update an OBDC SQL Database (Target Writer) with records from it.

I want to update all records contained in the Source—ONLY IF the column named "boolNeedsUpdate" in the Target == true.

I've researched the Validation editor, but that seems to allow me to apply conditions based on the source columns, but I need to only update records based on that column from the Target (Writer).

1. How do I update all Target records from the mapped Source, only if the Target "boolNeedsUpdate" column == true?
2. How do I write those rejected records from the source (when Target.boolNeedsUpdate == false) to a Text File.
