Reports - DBCross Tab vs CrossTab Questions

Hi,
DBCROSS tab
1 . DBCross Tab doesn't respect grouping , they run irrespective of the databank they are inside,
2. the UI of DBCROSS tab allows user to simply drag drop fields and they show up easily & the preview window shows the cross tab structure easily
 

CrossTab
1. The UI is clunky and requires user to double click ,select items manually and even then the preview window doesn't get updated
2. I am simply not able to get any output beyond what the preview I am posting 
 


 

Not sure we can help you here. I have never used this functionality before. 

Same with the rest of the team.

Sigh , I was specifically trying to make a cross tab report ,which is also called pivot report in Excel. 

The best part is CrossDB was perfect , and it gave similar output , but it takes ALL data , and not group data 



Will it help if I request you to open a ticket with them (FastReports) at least?

Can you try the following:

Place your DBCross object inside a DetailData band connected to a dataset filtered by the group’s key field. This way, the DBCross sees only the detail rows for the current group. In the designer, link datasets via DataSet.MasterSource and MasterFields.

The good news is I found conditional formatting works

 

The bad news is , I am not able to figure how to get the filtering going on "via In the designer, link datasets via DataSet.MasterSource and MasterFields". See my experiment

You have only one query you need two for master detail to work.
(You cannot link query to itself)
