Hi.

This is a +1 for a previous topic raised some time ago.

I realise that you are encrypting and storing many things as image blobs. But I have come across numerous times where I need to refactor something. For example, a variable name or a SQL Query or a value in a manually entered list and a full text search across all AETL objects (including packages, transformations, scripts etc would save an enormous amount of time as well as providing some level of confidence that most if not all instances of the text have been located and changed where appropriate.

We have close to 1000 individual "objects" and it is difficult to sometimes know where something has been used without opening every single object and checking.

One option I thought of was exporting all objects out into their text file version and then running a grep style search. But that would still mean opening every transformation and package and 'saving' each to a text file equivalent. Very time consuming and problematic

IMO, something in this space would be a great enhancement.

cheers

All connections and scripts are encripted now, so you can't just run sql against the repository.

I will speak with developers about adding this functionality for you

Oooops. No I hadn't. But would not want to necessarily want it replaced. For example and related to another question. Perhaps I am looking for the name of a stored procedure that is used within a Lookup or inside an SQL Script. So that I can get an idea of where it might be used and one of the objects it finds is one that I have 'retired'. I want to leave it alone as it is not in use.

Also, I noticed Find String in the context menu near Replace but it does not allow me to open the object so I can verify it has found what I am after.

cheers
