Scheduler Randomly Runs

Hi there -

Has anyone had the scheduler run a package randomly or randomly change the schedule set up? This has happened a couple of times now. This seems to happen on schedules I have had to adjust or disable/enable.

The main three examples I have are:

1. Schedule is running as it should be. It randomly runs another day or time. Schedule history shows it happening. Schedule is now changed or the schedule shows it hasn't changed.
2. Schedule is set up and saved. I go back to check it and now it has a different time to start the run.
3. Schedule randomly runs, I check the schedule to find nothing has changed, and I check the run history to see that it doesn't even show it ran at that time. No data was moved either.

The most recent time this happened I removed the schedule and recreated it. So far it is running as intended.

Thank you!

Welcome to the form and thank you for your post.

A very long time ago we created an article explaining how the scheduler works
www.etl-tools.com/wiki/knowledgebase/tip...rstanding-scheduler/

The scheduler works by pushing a record into the queue table and then a separate process picks it up.

I do know if you are using an agent or not, but you might have a situation repository database is down for maintenance. In this case, the agent will try to reconnect and continue the execution. The agent writes connection errors into the log file located in the same order.

Hi there! Thank you for your reply. I looked to see if we had any error logs and I do not see any. To answer your question, we are using an agent.

On 1/3 I created a schedule to start on 1/4 at 5:55am. I started the schedule by adding the package, selecting to use the agent, run at a specific time, I put in the time, then I went to advance to tell it to start on 1/4. I saved it and it was fine. It ran fine on 1/4. I went in on 1/4 to check on something and noticed the time for the schedule had reverted back to the exact time I created the schedule. I fixed it and told it to run on 1/5 under the advanced settings. I went in this morning after it ran successfully to find the same issue of it reverting back to the created time.

I watched the videos you provided and I wonder if by me going to advanced settings to tell it to start on a specific date it is causing issues. Maybe since it is only one day after I created the schedule - it doesn't like that? I would hope that if I created a schedule to start further in the future it wouldn't do this.

Any further insight?

Thank you!

Sorry my posts are confusing you. I am a new user to ETL and it is discouraging to hear that. I am not sure if I am allowed to provide screenshots yet. I will add them once I know. Thank you for your time.

Well... we ask all our users to provide screenshots.
It is written in the forum rulers
It is very difficult to provide support without them but we are trying.
All we are trying to do is to help you.

On 1/3 I created a schedule to start on 1/4 at 5:55am.

I am really sorry that I do not know what you mean by 1/3 or 1/4th.

The scheduler was created many years ago and so far it was working as expected.
There is no doubt that it might have bugs and we always do our best to address them.
We always listen to our customer's suggestions and implement them in the shortest possible time.
Regardless of the effort required.
