external variable for report query

We want to create a report and email it using an SQL data base. We want to extract customer number and their email from the data base and create the report using the customer number as the selection criteria to pick the correct data and also then email the report to the customer using the email address that comes for the data selected. We are having problem passing the customer number variable to the report. Can anyone help to solve this.

We are having problem with the MySQL syntax for the query. We are getting an undeclared identifier message. If we use a fixed value, it works but if we use a defined variable, it does not.
