Fields Selector and Writer

I assume you are not planning to work with all 300+ fields
If it is only a small subset say 50 fields or so try using fields selector object.
It will make transforming data much faster
Reader => Fields selector => Transfomer => Writer

Yeah, that is useful, except we need an option to copy the fields from the Field Selector object to the Writer, instead of from the Reader to the Writer. I created a Field Selector, then selected the 50 fields I needed. At that point, my options were to manually enter the 50 fields into the Writer, or to copy all the fields from the Reader to the Writer, then click the remove button hundreds of times to remove all the unneeded fields. Moreover, there's no way to delete specific columns or rearrange columns. The only option is to delete the last column, so if you have columns you want to keep, in between columns you want to delete, you're out of luck.

1. We should be able to copy fields from the Fields Selector to the Writer.
2. There should be a way to bulk select, rearrange and delete fields in the Writer, instead of only having a button to remove the last column. It would make sense to do this in the Show Definition screen.

I always had a file in the desired format for the writer

In this case, all that was needed is to point the writer to the file right-click and select 'Set fields' names'
After that, the names of the fields would be automatically assigned and there is no need to move them around of delete fields
There is also an option to reformat fields names.

It is also possible to paste the definition from excel. that is very useful if you work with very wide fixed-width files.
