Error File Protect Mode

I am facing an issue when trying to read XLS files in “Protected View”. When these files arrive in this format, the ETL is unable to recognise them as spreadsheets – it simply ignores the content and does not open anything. The important detail is that, when the same file is outside Protected View, it is read normally without any errors.This behaviour becomes an obstacle because we receive a large volume of spreadsheets from clients, and it is not feasible to manually modify each file to remove Protected View. The ETL, in turn, does not display any error message or warning – it simply fails to identify the spreadsheet, as if the file were empty or incompatible.I need a solution to be created so that the ETL can read this type of file.

I have attached the treatment and the file we are using.

There is a package called CHANGE EXCEL EXTENSION , maybe it can help you convert your files from xls to xlsx before running transformation on it

 

I was able to successfuly convert file you posted
 

You could also consider doing the change on the pc which runs AETL , I found below settings in excel

We have reproduced the problem. It might take sometime to resolve because we depend on the third party here.

We process around 700 files per month, and it would be unfeasible to modify most ETLs just to convert them into XLSX — it would be like manually opening each file and fixing the blocked error. We are implementing an automation process to handle all files, and any manual intervention would disrupt the workflow. We need the ETL to recognize the file as XLS and run it normally.
