Ask User - File Location and Run transformation

Hellos,
I want to create a package 

1. Ask the user for a file- Done by Ask the User - Select File 
2. Run transformation on this file ? How to pass the location of this file as a reader input?
3. See attachment for more clarity 

 

Create global variable and point it to a file
use this variable as source file name for the reader
Important make sure that variable name is the same as Ask the User - Select File variable

Let us try to address one problem a the time

Once you created the global variable. Did you close the transformation?

You have to close it and open it again otherwise it might not work

I have just done the same and run it manually and it worked absolutely fine.

What is your definition of running it manually?  From where?
