Mappings Dropped

Mappings Dropped was created by Neil
Hello
I had a client a while back saying the mappings in certain tables were being randomly dropped, and they then have to remap everything. I put it down to user error initially, but they claimed it happened again a couple of times.
I now have another client saying the same thing – there was an import yesterday where I know all the mappings were in place because I saw them, then the client logged in later in the day and said there were only 5 mappings present. They have also had other random mappings drop from a couple of other data sets. I now don’t think this is something the user is doing.
I’m going to take a backup of the repository database at the affected Trust, and if the issue occurs again will take another Repository backup at that point. This is so I might get a lead as to what’s going on. In the meantime, any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Neil

Hi Neil
When you say mapping (import) is dropped
1 Does it mean that it is no longer visible within the objects tree on the left
2 Or the mapping is visible but the mapping between source and target is missing?

The import still exists in the objects tree, It’s the mappings themselves from source to target.

Thanks for the clarification
The mapping is lost when the user is not able to access the target/source database.
Are they using windows authentification over there?
They may have a situation when 'user a' has access to the database but 'user b' does not
When 'user b' opens the mapping it is lost.
Anyway, the software has automatic version control so it is very easy to recover.

Please also make the object you have finished working with ReadyOnly
www.etl-tools.com/wiki/knowledgebase/mak...formations_read_only
That will save you from making accidental changes or losing mapping in the future
