connection error was created by alanwjackson

We are getting the following error message as an example:

Cannot get list of fields for table [A2BF_R4].[dbo].[SOURCEDOC00] Error: SQLDriverConnect Failed: 08001 [Microsoft][ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server]SSL Provider: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. 08001 [Microsoft][ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server]Client unable to establish connection

The table name changes depending on the object and table being processed
It does not happen all the time, but causes execution errors and failures

In our current situation , we are running the 32b ETL, with 32b odbc.
the odbc driver 17 was just installed yesterday on the servers involved

My standard sql connection is not ODBC, but server based
i provide a connection name, server name and credentials
I am sure it is just the sql server connection version 6.03.9

the sql databases are in AWS and called RDS
there is no machine to log onto to provide information
i am told rds is running their version of sql 2016

the processing etl is windows 2012 r2 64b system
the sql/odbc is what comes with that, however sql odbc 17 was just installed

Does the error message above mean we need to start using sql odbc 17?
Then I was on the right track by having sql odbc 17 installed

If this is correct, i can easily create odbc connections with odbc 17
how can i change the sql connections to the odbc17 connections without doing object by object

I do not think the current replace function will do this

1. the real questions are, what is causing the error message
2. if i need to start using odbc 17, how can i update everything all the sql connections to the odbc connections

Looks like sql server configuration issue.
There are a lot of articles in the internet about this problem.
For example this one.

I can agree that it is a configuration error
However the servers are in AWS-RDS. You can ask them and they will tell everyone, it is not their issue.
Everything points to the sql server 17 odbc as the solution
I have installed it
I will build the necessary ODBC connections
However i need a method to find specific SQL connections and change them to specific odbc connections and vice versa
change odbc connections to sql connections

This will help during the testing as well as when I convert our processes to 64b and need to change the related connections
Is this possible?
how much, how long?

There is no need to change SQL connections to ODBC connections

For SQL server connections our software automatically selects the highest installed driver in the following sequence

ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server
ODBC Driver 13 for SQL Server
ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server
SQL Server Native Client 11.0
SQL Server Native Client 10.0
SQL Native Client
SQL Server

There is nothing for you to do it is done automatically.
