TOPIC: ODBC

ODBC 1 month 1 week ago #19637

I am looking for your guidance in an upcoming ODBC change

Just as we had to change all our file paths, our WMS is moving to a new machine.
Lets say it is going from machine wmsdb to wmsdb2

We have many packages using ODBC to the wmsdb machine
lets say we have 20 ODBC definitions 10 for reads 10 for updates

Each ODBC has the machine name and a port id in its definition
In theory I only need to update the windows odbc definition and change the machine, the dsn stays the same

the etl is using the windows dsn
and etl should be good to go. correct?

The next time a package, which uses an odbc, executes, it will call the new definition, I hope.

I should not have to open and close all the packages or anything else, correct

Please let me know if i will have to change all objects and if there is a around this programatically

This is correct. If you are using DNS' there is no need to change anything inside our software
