TOPIC: Regular Expression (RegEx) Query

Regular Expression (RegEx) Query 2 months 4 weeks ago #19764

Hi

AETLP v6.3.6.7

Trying to create a generic Transformation that can be reused across packages that will collect a list of files and extract a Date from the filename. The date can be either 6 or 8 digits long. I am not too concerned about the validity of the date as it will just be used a s a sequence number

I am using a Regular Expression of ([0-9]{8})|([0-9]{6})

and as you can see in the attached screen shot it does not return any 6 digit matches but it does return the 8 digit match

I followed your Wiki to the RegEx links and one of the builders displays he results I expected.

Kind Regards

Found that this Regular Expression worked

(\d{6}|\d{8})

It will match on either a 6 or 8 digit number. This is good enough for our purposes and allows us to write a Transformation to extract a 6 or 8 digit date from a file name and use it downstream
