TOPIC: Zip File Action

Zip File Action 8 months 1 week ago #18944

Hi

I have a folder with 1000 files, i need to tell the Zip Operation to zip a specific 10 files, is there a way to extend the Zip Action to read a list oif files when creating the Zip File.

I know you will tell me to loop thru the 1000 files and copy them to a new folder and to then zip all the contents of that folder. I would like to explore the option where the list of files is the full path to the 10 files, for example ( a smaller, example, imagine there are 6 files in a folder ) and i put 3 files in a JOB.TXT

folder list.
\\fileshare\folderA\A.tif
\\fileshare\folderA\B.tif
\\fileshare\folderA\C.tif
\\fileshare\folderA\D.tif
\\fileshare\folderA\E.tif
\\fileshare\folderA\F.tif

JOB.TXT
\\fileshare\folderA\A.tif
\\fileshare\folderA\C.tif
\\fileshare\folderA\D.tif

and i tell the Zip operation to get files from JOB.TXT then only A, C and D gets Zipped up.

Well, you do not have to loop through the thousands of files.
Loop action is capable of loading a list of values from the file.
Then you can just add files to archive one by one using loop value.
No need to copy files

Hi, the add file one by one using a loop does not work, it seems like only the last file is added to the zip, even though the ETL loops thru all of the files in the loop

Additionally, for years now, we have been operating under the "instructions" from ETL to copy the needed files to a say a buffer eg. <WorkingFolder> and then set the Files to Compress to <WorkingFolder>\*.*

Hi Daniel

I can confirm that adding files to the existing archive does not work.
We are currently trying to address the problem
