Archive Action Error was created by bruce.gibbins
Hi. I am using the DEMO Repository Backup package. As a setup I have 7-zip installed and 7-zp File Manager associated with *.7z files and put 7Zip exe path in my System Path
If I use a Directory Variable for the 7z output file I get the error below if I use the PROCESS NOW button. But if I hard-coded the path it works well. It works as expected when the variable is used and the package is executed.
Any Ideas?

This is expected behaviour, variables are replaced during package execution and not when you press process now button

Thanks Peter. I had thought (wrongly as it turns out) that the Action object may have been able to resolve the variable back to a connection.
May I suggest to the developers that a more intuitive error message may be better as it would have avoided me making the wrong assumption and raising a question here that in the end had an obvious answer.
Thanks again.
Bruce

The message is from 7zip.dlls and most of them are not very useful
"As a setup I have 7-zip installed and 7-zp File Manager associated with *.7z files and put 7Zip exe path in my System Path"
There is no need to install 7.zip, our software install all necessary dll's

Thanks again. I had 7-Zip already installed as it is my compress/decompress tool of choice. But that is good to know.
In regard to the message... I understand the difficulty but perhaps some basic check prior to calling the .dll when using this action interactively may be possible. Of course I am guessing but you have a very strong product and it ticks a lot of boxes so my suggestions are in an effort to help give it some 'polish'
cheers.

Thanks, Bruce
We introduced some additional checks so the error is more user friendly now
