Distribution using executables

Hello.
I'm new to Advanced ETL and have some pre-sales questions:

How is Advanced ETL Processor distributed within an Organization?
Can transformations be distributed via a packaged executable?
Is the software licensed by machine or user?
Does every machine/user require a license to execute a transformation?

Thanks!

By installing the software

Can transformations be distributed via a packaged executable?

The transformations are stores in the repository, so there is no need to distribute them

Is the software licensed by machine or user?

To the user

Does every machine/user require a license to execute a transformation?

Yes every machine need a license installed.

If you need a lot of licenses site license is a cheaper option

If I understand you correctly, it means that the repository is installed on a server, while clients would access the repository over the network. Correct?
If so, is there a difference between server and client licenses?
Looking at the price list, which would be the "server" license and which the "client" license?
Thanks!

Enterprise version is for running on the servers.

Enterprise customers usually want to run etl processes automatically without user interaction.

Enterprise version includes everything Professional has plus execution agent.
You can do development using both Professional and Enterprise.

We recommend Professional version for developers.
You can start from buying Professional and upgrade to Enterprise later.

Wiki front page has a picture explaining which version does what

Mike, thanks for answering my questions so far.
I haven't fully understood yet, how a typical enterprise setup would look like, and which licenses are required.
I understand that the Enterprise version would be installed on a Server Machine, where the central repository is stored.
Now, lets consider the following case:
- A User sitting at a workstation connected to that server.
- The User wants to extract data from a pre-formatted text file and generate an pre-formatted XML file.
- The engineering team has already configured a transformation for this case, which is hosted on the Server Machine.
Questions:
- How exactly does the user call and interact with the transformation? E.g. the user will need to provide the file to be transformed and the location where he wants to save the generated XML file.
- Which license does the User require on his workstation?
Thanks.

All connections transformations workflows etc are stored in the repository.
So when user connect to the repository He/She can immediately see all the objects.
He/She can than open transformation select source file and run transformation locally on it's own computer

- Which license does the User require on his workstation?

Professional.

It looks like that you have actually installed the software yet or watched our tutorials.
Watching tutorials will save you a lot of time.
They are very short and concentrated on one thing at the time.
