Hello,
I downloaded a copy of your Advanced ETL Pro today so I can evaluate your product.

I want to do a test by loading a QVD into SQL Server. After I choose my QVD file, it asks for the connection name. I can't enter it manually in the dropdown. I am not able to find a way to create a connection for QVD source. The connection name can't be blank. So how do I create a QVD connection?

Thanks,
Sydney

See the pictures below

Just to clarify when you design the transformation you can load data from any directory you wish.
However when you run it from the package the data will be loaded from the directory specified

Yes, thank you. This is working now. I would not have thought it would be under Directories.

It took 3 hours and 51 minutes to load 1.8M rows into SQL Server 2014. Is this normal performance? I think it's slow. Maybe
I didn't have the transformation configured properly?? I even set to commit AFTER reading all the data. I have attached the completion
screen. So I have a couple of question.

Q1 - Are there any settings I need to check/configure to make this load go faster?

Q2 - When I right click "Properties" on the Writer, it takes several minutes for the first dialog screen to come up. What is it that it's looking for?
When the dialog comes up, I click on ODBC tab, I click on the dropdown to see my tables, it too takes several minutes to run. Am I doing something wrong?
This slowness happens EVERY TIME when I repeat the above two steps.

Q3 - When I configure the target to use MS SQL Server, I get an error about ".... Function Sequence Error" and it won't even start the load. I worked around it by creating an ODBC connection pointing to my SQL Server 2014 instance.

Please help!

Thanks

If you get "Function Sequence Error" that means that you have to install the correct 32-bit ODBC drivers

Please read the following article

SQL Server connection usually much faster than ODBC

OK, I will look into the odbc driver.

Do you have any updates/suggestion regarding Q1 and Q2?

Thank you.

Using SQL server connection will make faster

It takes time to retrieve list of tables via ODBC, especially if you have a lot of tables.

It would really help if you start posting more screen shots it is hard to provide support by guessing B)
