Basic differences between Advanced ETL Processor and Visual Importer?

Hi.
I am evaluating both of these tools for clients who need to massage data for my application.

Much of these two tools seem very similar. After perusing this site and experimenting with the tools (mostly with Visual Importer to start), it seems to me that Advanced ETL Processor is similar to SSIS data flows, whereas Visual Importer is a much simpler "move data from point A to point B with the ability to add calculated fields along the way".

My clients that are less 'database tool inclined' will probably understand Visual Importer easier than Advanced ETL Processor, but Advanced ETL may be better for the more data savy.

Am I missing anything big here?

Are there any huge plusses or minuses (or warnings) of one tool over the other? Or any basic conceptual differences I should watch out for?

The price differential between the 2 products is not important for my applications - I just want to make sure to recommend the right tool for each job. Useability and understanding are the most important.

Also, can an Visual Importer repository be migrated into Advanced ETL Processor at all?

Thanks for any guidance.

You are correct

We recommenced Visual Importer when you have good data quality and there is no need for complex transformations like sorting grouping etc

Advanced ETL processor offers functionality similar to data flow in SSIS

My clients that are less 'database tool inclined' will probably understand Visual Importer easier than Advanced ETL Processor, but Advanced ETL may be better for the more data savy.

You are correct again

Advanced ETL processor and Visual Importer use same repository structure so you can switch later if necessary. (Same for Active Table Editor and Database browser)

If you are stuck we can connect remotely and assist.
