Today we are proud to announce that 64-bit versions of all our ETL Products are available for download.
32-bit versus 64-bit

As the number of bits increases, there are two important benefits:

  • More bits means that data can be processed in larger chunks which also means more accurately.
  • More bits means our system can point to or address a larger number of locations in physical memory.
  • 32-bit bit application could address (point to) 4 Gigabytes (GB) of memory in one go.
  • 64-bit can potentially address up to 4 billion times that many locations.
When to use the 64-bit version.

We recommend using the 64-bit version for reading very large QVD files, sorting large data sets or when more than 4 Gigabytes of memory is required for data processing.

Installation procedure

Uninstall the old version first. The new version uses a different default program group ETL-Tools instead of DB Software Laboratory

ETL-Tools Group

Why it is important to uninstall?

Because if you install the software on top of the existing installation it would be difficult to use both versions at the same time

Special note for enterprise version:

Before uninstalling the product unregister Management Console but running the following commands

Management Console

  • amc.exe /UNINSTALL (for Advanced ETL Processor)
  • vmc.exe /UNINSTALL (for Visual Importer ETL)

Execution Agent

  • aetlagent.exe /UNINSTALL (for Advanced ETL Processor)
  • vimpagent.exe /UNINSTALL (for Visual Importer ETL)

Make sure that you Run it As Administrator

Why it is important?

Because in order to make both 64-bit and 32-bit versions work at the same we had to rename Windows services.
