Convert Excel Rows to QVX Automatically

QVX (QlikView Data eXchange) is Qlik’s exchange format for feeding data into QlikView and Qlik Sense. Generating QVX from Excel provides a structured handoff for external data sources, reporting pipelines, and pre-aggregated data loads.

1. Open Advanced ETL Processor Enterprise
2. Create a Directory connection pointing to the folder with your Excel source files.
3. Create a new Transformation:
   • Right-click a Transformation group and select New
4. Remove the default Validator object to clean up the workspace.
5. Add a Data Reader:
   • Select your Excel file (.xls or .xlsx)
   • Choose a sheet, named range, or Excel table
   • Use file masks like *.xlsx to process multiple Excel files automatically

   Advanced ETL Processor supports dynamic Excel reading, multiple sheets, and wildcard matching.

6. Add a QVX Writer:
   • Select the output directory for the QVX file
   • Specify the file name and Qlik structure
7. Configure the Transformer:
   • Drag-and-drop Excel fields to the QVX output fields
   • Apply formatting, data type conversions, and cleansing rules if needed
8. Run the Conversion:
   • Click Execute to generate the QVX file
   • Review the log to confirm success and row counts
9. Automate QVX Generation:
   • Schedule the process to run daily, hourly, or when new Excel files arrive
   • Trigger it via system events or file watchers
